HAPPY BIRTHDAY RESTAURATEUR  & CHEF THIERRY BLOUET

Restauranteur and chef, our own Thierry Blouet is celebrating his birthday on 20 August and he is turning 60. “Age is just a number,” says Thierry, “There are still things I want to do and hopefully I can get them all done.”

He was born in Puerto Rico to French parents, educated in France and Mexico where haute cuisine is an essential ingredient of the good life. He has a mixed cultural background and he uses the traditional base of French cuisine with modern techniques, flavors and ingredients from all over Mexico.

He founded Café des Artistes in Puerto Vallarta in 1990. Diners rave about the culinary elegance within a magnificent and exclusive garden environment. This distinguishes Café des Artistes as the icon restaurant of the city.

He also owns restaurants Tuna Blanca in Punta Mita (opened in 2008) and Café des Artistes Los Cabos (opened in 2015), both have the undisputed seal of Grupo Café des Artistes.

Thierry is Ambassador of the French gastronomy of the century (he was Balli Regional of La Châine des Rôtisseurs in January 2010 and in 2016 he was enthroned as Bailli Délégué du Mexique. He is a member of the French Culinary Academy, bringing together chefs from France, Canada, Mexico and the United States to share and enrich their culinary techniques and maintaining its traditionally high standards.

He is also a proud ambassador of culture and culinary festivals in Puerto Vallarta and throughout Mexico. He is co-founder of the International Gourmet Festival and this year they are celebrating 29 years of the world food experience in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit.

He has been President of the Thierry Blouet Trophy, which began in 2006 with venues in Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara and Mexico City, created with the firm objective of concentrating, promoting and rewarding the gastronomic talent of Mexico, endorsed by l’Académie Culinaire de France.

Thierry has a lot on his plate, but look for new surprises in the years ahead.
