OKU JAPANESE RESTAURANT IN SANTA BARBARA COOKS UP CASH DONATIONS FOR LAHAINA MAUI by Bonnie Carroll The owner and staff at Oku Japanese Restaurant on Cabrillo Boulevard in Santa Barbara donated all food and beverage recievables on a beautiful night in September to assist the people of Maui following the horrible fire that leveled Lahaina, Maui. The restaurant was overflowing with generous patrons and a line of people waiting outside to assist with the fundraiser. Tina, owner, said she loved Maui and asked her patrons to help and they showed up to help. This restaurant opened four years ago in Santa Barbara and offers some of the best Japanese food I've ever savored. My dishes were original in presentation and preparation. The bar also makes divine mocktails to savor with your favorite dishes, as well as very fine wine and Japanese liquors. In one night OKU raised 30,000.00 to help people in Lahaina.
