SIPS . . . Tequila, Mezcal Bar at The Iguana SENSATIONAL SIPS AT THE IGUANA Tasting Tequila, Mezcal & Fine Wine in Casa Kimberly By Bonnie Carroll During a recent visit to Puerto Vallarta, I was pleased to secure a reservation at the former villa of Elizabeth Taylor, now Casa Kimberly boutique hotel, in their exquisite Iguana Restaurant and Tequila Bar overlooking the city of Puerto Vallarta. They are renowned for their outstanding Tequila, Mezcal and fine wine options, with a very impressive menu of outstanding Margarita’s and Mezcal cocktails, as well as a wine list with fine wines from around the world. This is probably the most elegant setting I’ve seen for a Tequila Bar, with dining tables overlooking the gulch and ocean view of Puerto Vallarta. The property itself is worthy of a visit from the King & Queen of Spain in it’s absolute elegance and style, along with exquisite art and sculptures throughout. The menu at The Iguana offers some outstanding Mexican entrée items, as well as slightly continental options, and it was all stunning in presentation and fabulous in preparation. For fine wine or tequila lovers it all comes together beautifully. The master at the chic tequila bar aims to please and is quite skilled at creating gorgeous sips to savor, and the dining room staff are happy and very capable to assist with wine pairing. The painting of Elizabeth Taylor that guests view entering The Iguana is a beautiful tribute the renowned award-winning actress who lived on this property which adjoined the home of actor Richard Burton. The romantici bridge that connected their homes is a beautiful sight at sunset. If you are a tequila or mezcal devotee this is one exceptional adventure that you should not miss. Casa Kimberly is a private hotel property, and non-guests must have a reservation to dine at The Iguana! For information or reservations visit: www.casakimberly.com.
