Brasserie SLO Announces Series of Wine Dinners
DAOU, Patrimony and Rombauer will be featured wineries
at Hotel Cerro in San Luis Obispo
With more than 250 wineries in San Luis Obispo County, Hotel Cerro is surrounded by talented winemakers.  The culinary team at the hotel’s signature restaurant Brasserie SLO has been looking forward to partnering with these award-winning wineries, and now that Executive Chef Derek Brooks is firmly at the helm, the timing is right.

First up, on Thursday, December 9, is DAOU Family Estates a family-owned and operated winery committed to producing collectible, world-class Bordeaux-style wines.  A variety of wines from DAOU will be paired with a menu crafted by Chef Brooks showcasing seasonal produce and artisanal culinary offerings of the central coast, for an authentic San Luis Obispo experience.

The six-course dinner begins with two appetizers, a Whipped Goat Cheese Brioche with cherries and spiced honey, paired with DAOU discovery rosé, as well as Hamachi Tartare with finger limes, crispy nori and citrus, paired with discovery sauvignon blanc.  The first course is Vanilla Poached Lobster, butternut squash purée, citrus celery root gratin and hazelnut brown butter served with DAOU’s bodyguard chardonnay. It is followed by Crispy Duck Confit, toasted polenta, boysenberry, and chocolate gastrique paired with DAOU sequentis reserve merlot.  The final savory course is Lamb Two Ways – grilled lamb chop with fennel; and black olive lamb crepinettes, tomato cous cous, carmelized baby fennel and herb gremolata, both served with DAOU soul of a lion cabernet sauvignon.  Dessert is a Caramel Chocolate Yule Log & Chocolate Cake with caramel cream, served with a Flatliner cocktail, made with coffee, vodka and Baileys.

The DAOU Wine Dinner is priced at $175 (including gratuity) and will be served on Brasserie SLO’s Mission Fig Terrace from 6:00 – 8:30pm.  A DAOU representative will be there to walk guests through the tasting experience and explain the background of each wine. Reservations are required.  A Patrimony Estates dinner is scheduled for Jan. 27 and Rombauer Vineyards Feb 17.

For those wishing to have a relaxing meal and then spend the night, Hotel Cerro is offering an exclusive discount of 30% applicable to the guest’s entire stay and for any type of the hotel’s spacious guestrooms and suites.

MARGERUM & JORDAN WINES FAVORITES FOR THE HOLIDAYS

by Bonnie Carroll

Margerum 5 White is a wine I always recommend for special presentations during the holiday season. This lovely white is perfect with appetizers, main courses and desserts. I especially like it with my caviar egg bite recipe.

I love Anlgels Salumi and Truffles to enjoy before dinner or as lovely snacks while watching holiday TV favorites.

For my Thanksgiving this year we enjoyed wonderful wines from Jordan Vineyard and Winery. Long time favorites that pair well with any holiday dinner menu, I've never been disappointed.

Cheers! to the holidays 2021-2022.

Divine Angels Salumi & Truffle Bites for the Holidays

My favorite appetizer is a lovely deviled egg recipe I created with caviar to savor with Margerum M5 White

Jordan Chardonnay is a favorite with Traditional Turkey Dinners

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM LBN
