Letter from the Publisher April 2013 Dear Life Bites News Readers, Easter was an amazing day, and our new Pope Francis is bringing renewed faith to people around the world. I have fallen in love with this humble no nonsense leader of the Catholic Church who radiates with God's love. Now, Mother's Day is nearly upon us and a time to spoil our mom or reflect on the wonderful times we had with her during her life. We have some nice gift ideas in our gift section for mom or in our sense of style special products section. Below you will find a few recipes for Spring and we hope you enjoy them. In this issue we have focused primarily on the amazing new changes at the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles, and the culinary skills of renowned L.A. Prime Restaurant Executive Chef Andreas Nieto. The hotel has been honored by the City of Los Angeles as a 'Green' property, and has undergone so many positive changes during an ongoing renovation. We also have fun stories on the Oscar Suites preceeding the Academy Awards 2013. Nice new product introductions and interesting news on Walking for Breast Cancer and more in our Health Minded section.
"Wheels" has information on a unique train ride to Hearst Castle that includes a private dinner and tour, as well as Hearst Wine and Beef being served. The ride is in October and is a private and exclusive overnight train experience not to miss. There is a great California Zephyr train trip planned this October as well . . . a week long trip in private train cars being spoiled while watching the world go by. This is an elegant experience, especially for those of us who grew up loving train travel. Health Minded offers good health suggestions for spring, and culinary coup is filled with chef and restaurant news. Sips will provide info on wine and spirits events, including the recent Chocolate De Vine event in support of Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center. Look for great new healthy products and Book Bites has 'great reads' and reminds you to check out our favorite Italian magazine "Tastes of Italia" stories by Lauren, owner of Italian Cooking-Vacations. Entertainment has a report on a great play we saw presented at UCSB, and local film festival information, openings, and star gazing gossip. Cody Hilton has a review on one of his favorite films, and some valuable news for teens. Our kids section features fun activities and products you may find interesting. St. Pat's day in Santa Barbara was grand and we have a report on La Arcadia Bistro. The Natural Product Show West was a very successful event this year and attracted thousands to the Anaheim Convention Center. An unconventional and well recieved take on "Aida" filled the Granada Theatre in Santa Barbara, and the opening of the film "Renoir" packed the theatre's every where this weekend.
We hope your Easter was peaceful and happy. God Bless and we thank you for joining us this month. Look for our Mother's Day issue, which will be devoted to women who make a real difference in our world.
