Third Year for CAW Ready to Hang Event Santa Barbara Community Artis Work Ready to Hang a Huge Success
by Story and Photos Bonnie Carroll One of our region’s largest exhibitions of local art was held on Nov 19, at the CAW, 631 Garden Street, Santa Barbara. This year was the third iteration of what has already become an annually awaited artistic tradition. Ready to Hang is open to all local artists for creations 12 inches by 12 inches in size, Ready to Hang is a unique opportunity to see new works by our entire community of artists in one show.
This is the second year I participated in Ready to Hang and it is an amazing two days of artistic fun and friendship. This year’s participation was huge with 450 artists showing their work. It is free and open to the public and held at the Community Arts Workshop and features works for sale by dozens of area painters, photographers, assemblage makers, tattoo artists, printmakers and more! I do not consider myself a highly talented artists but love to paint and draw and am so pleased to support this fabulous organization. The Community Arts Workshop has been a meeting center for artists in Santa Barbara for many years, and is the center of creation for the annual Solstice Parade each year. The artists’ party included a live band, delicious food, wine, and an opportunity to talk with the artists and meet a bevy of local art lovers as well. For information please visit: sbcaw.org/hang!
