Travel + Leisure Magazine singles out Big Sur, Calif. resort for excellence on global scale
 
Ventana Inn & Spa, a rustic, luxury resort located in Big Sur above the Pacific Ocean on California’s Central Coast, has been named to the list of 2009 “500 World’s Best Hotels” by Travel + Leisure magazine.
 
The January 2009 issue of Travel + Leisure, now on newsstands, features the seventh annual listing of the highest-rated hotels, resorts, inns and lodges on a global scale. (See this link for a complete listing,

According to the magazine, Ventana Inn & Spa is “like a New Age camp for adults: a crunchy collection of cedar lodges on 243 wooded acres that offers nature excursions a clothing optional pool, and, after an $18 million renovation, one of the area’s top spas (Allegria).”
 
Earlier this year, Condé Nast Traveler magazine named Ventana Inn & Spa to its “2008 Gold List, The Best Places to Stay in the World.”
 
Ventana Inn & Spa, founded in 1975, recently underwent the $18 million property-wide renovation carried out by its new owner, Walton Street Capitol and Joie de Vivre, its hospitality management company. The renovation included the rebuilding of six suites; restructuring of 26 original guest rooms with open floor plans; expanded bathrooms; new furnishings and amenities; and restoration of the pools and famed Japanese Baths
