| It has been a few years now since the incredible Wii gaming system hit the market and changed the way we look at video gaming forever. Now as families continue to embrace the system and look for new titles to introduce to their Wii library, we are delighted to offer a roundup of our top Wii titles for 2009. These are games that really wowed us and we are sure they will bring lots of hours of family fun to your home. -The National Parenting CenterSports Resort - NintendoHands down the most fun title we saw all year, you will have hours and hours, and then even more hours of fun, we guarantee. There are so many great games to play, all using Nintendo's new super sensitive Motion Plus attachment to the max. Whether you are playing 3 on 3 basketball or ping pong, shooting arrows or sword fighting, you will not only be completely immersed in the experience, you will work up a sweat while you do. The range of marvelous activities is so broad that we hesitate to call this a sports title for fear that it might chase non sports fans away. There is something for everyone here and if you really want to take advantage of all that your Wii can do, this is the title that you must run out and get. Band Hero - ActivisionThe now legendary status of the Guitar Hero has turned millions of former air guitar players into virtual rock gods. It has appealed primarily to an audience that prefers their music on the heavy metal, head-banging, hard rock side of things. Band Hero is a title for those who feel just as musically inclined but lean more to the less aggressive side. The music features music from bands and performers who are more pop and Top 40 acts, which serves to make the game much more appealing to broader family inclusion. Also, the addition of a drum set and microphone open up the game play, effectively doubling the participation possibilities. Creating a band and taking it out on the road has never been so easy, or so much fun. (Also available for Xbox) Boom Blox Bash Party - Electronic ArtsFor those of you who are familiar with the original Boom Blox, you already know how much fun it can be. Electronic Arts and game creator (some unknown by the name of Steven Spielberg!) have outdone themselves with one of the finest examples of family fun fare that celebrates the wonderfulness that is the Wii. Working together or pitted against one another, players smash and destroy blox with great abandon. It's not all hurling as hard as you can, you will need to be calculating and cunning as you find the weakest points or use the most effective tools to accomplish the specific goals and challenges. So gather the family, hand out the remotes and settle back for a Boom Blox Bash Party in your family room. Bright Lights! Big Screen! Sceneit? - ScreenlifeTrivia challenges have been a staple of family game night for nearly thirty years now (we're looking at you Trivial Pursuit!). There have been some excellent attempts at upping the interactive ante with the advent of video gaming systems, this year Screenlife outpaced all the competition with the Wii version of Bright Lights! Big Screen! for all you movie fans out there. The game play is swift and fun especially when you gather older family members around the room (teenagers over 16, young adults and grownups) and arm them with Wii remotes. There are so many visually fun questions and loads of film clips that your focus will never wane. The on-screen host is one of the better we have seen, mixing witty urbane comments with encouragement and support.
Ultimate Party Challenge - KonamiFor years Dance, Dance Revolution has delighted (and terrified) video game enthusiasts. There are some who's heart beats faster just seeing the dance mat, eager to step up to the challenge. For those who fear the mat, for reasons ranging from exposing their lack of dance moves to tripping on their two left feet, Konami has stepped up with a great title that utilizes the dance mat to play a whopping assortment of fun, competitive and cooperative games. Whether using the mat or the now familiar Wii remote enormously entertaining games are there for your choosing. Whether you feel like testing your physical, musical or mental skills the level of interaction is top-notch and will provide the whole family with many hours of group gaming.
