August 2008 KIDS KALEIDOSCOPE by Cody Chandler Hilton Summer is a good time to enjoy sailing and water sports. Last month I told you about my sunset sail, and another great time on the water is whale watching on the Condor Express. The boat sales to the Islands and looks for whales. The trip takes most of the day, and they have a galley where you can buy breakfast or lunch. If it get too windy on top, you can sit in the galley and watch everything. There were no whales on our trip, but hundreds of dolphin that were jumping all around the boat. It is not easy getting photos of them because they really move fast. There is a lighthouse on the shore near Santa Maria where a bad ship wreck happened on a foggy day years ago. The view of the coastline is very interesting because you can if you know the area you can track where you are.
I will be writing about Fiesta in my next column. It is a celebration of Old Spanish Days in Santa Barbara, and features a week of dancing, music, food and fun. Thanks for reading my column. I hope you come back next month.
