NEW INTERNATIONAL HOTELS 2011 Waldorf Astoria Will Open in Berlin and Panama in 2011With the Waldorf Astoria’s London Syon Park hotel all set to open, the group have announced a further two new hotels, one in Berlin and one in Panama. Both hotels are due to open late 2011, although no confirmed dates have been set. The Waldorf Astoria Berlin (above) will be located in the centre the affluent City West neighbourhood. The hotel will be the group’s first in Germany and is housed in the highest building in the west side city. The website is claiming the 232 rooms and suites:will set new standards in luxury by combining the pioneering heritage of the legendary flagship Waldorf-Astoria New York with a unique design inspired by Berlin’s vibrant personality. But we’ll have to wait and see as there are no room photos yet. The hotel will feature a restaurant, cafe, American Bar, ballroom (what’s with the amount of hotel ballrooms these days?) and lobby bar next to a replica of the Waldorf Astoria's famous grandfather clock. The hotel will have the only Guerlain Spa in Germany including swimming pool, whirpool, sundeck and Bang & Olufsen sound system. But that’s not Waldorf Astoria have up their sleeves, 2011 will also be the year they open their first hotel in Latin America. The Panamera will be located in Panama and is also set to open late 2011. Versace meets Dubai -- Following in the opening of Versace's sister outpost on Australia's Gold Coast, this £400-million wonder will be one of the United Arab Emirates' most outstanding properties when it opens mid-2011. Inside will be 213 suites and 169 private residences, as well as a host of fine restaurants and bars, an on-site superspa, a ballroom, and a boutique for purchasing Versace signature items. But the hotel will also feature its own “refrigerated” beach, plugged into a system of heat-absorbing pipes and wind blowers to keep beachgoers calm, cool and collected. __________________________________________________________________
W Paris-Opéra, Paris, France
W Paris-Opéra is due to open at the end of 2011. Found in the trendy Parisian district of Opéra, just minutes from the Garnier Opera House, the plush property will add 90 sumptuous rooms and suites to the capital's already chic hotel scene. Housed inside an elegant 1870s Haussmann-era building, the hotel is the brands eighth in Europe and will be an all-encompassing destination, with a restaurant, bar, fitness facility, spa, and lounge. As with all W properties, the brands signature Whatever/Whenever concierge service will live on and will even be providing a gourmet picnet in Jardin du Luxembourg and shopping excursions to the famous boutiques of Faubourg Saint-Honoré. The hotel features lovely muted fabrics seen throughout, along with portraits of Queen Victoria. The highlight of the property is the exquisite grand starcase that graces the entrance. Ritz-Carlton Montreal, Montreal, Canada
In renovation since 2008, the Ritz-Carlton Montreal reopen this autumn after a $150-million face-lift. Located at 1228 Sherbrooke Street West, the hotel will celebrate with a special opening to show off its revived facade, lobby, Palm Court, Grand Ballroom, and Ritz Garden -- all of which have been restored to their former dazzling glory. The best feature will be the 46 private residences that have been added to the property, all exquisitely furnished.
New Hotel in Switzerland HOTEL VILLA HONEGG-Renaissance Lucerne Hotel The Hotel Villa Honegg on the Bürgenstock was built in 1905 and is a true gem exemplifying Swiss hotel tradition. After having been closed for decades, the hotel has recently reopened its doors. For the past months it has undergone a complete renovation – but retained its historically unique façade. In Lucerne the Hotel Schiller is now called the Renaissance Lucerne Hotel and has 86 spacious rooms furnished in the newest and ultra-modern lifestyle standard. It opens on June 1.
